Jobeagle - the Tinder for jobs

March 7th 2022 – Alice Huber

Text-heavy job ads and discriminatory, lengthy application processes will soon be a thing of the past. A four-person startup team is shaking up the job market with the app “Jobeagle” – à la Tinder.

There’s no such thing as standing still. In recent years, the labor market has evolved from an employer’s market to an employee’s market. What does that mean? Today’s young talents are looking for attractive employers, no longer want to be tied to a company for the long term, and want to look around for new opportunities without any obligation. For employers, this means presenting themselves as attractively and progressively as possible. Sounds so far so good, if it weren’t for the time-consuming and anything but progressive application processes.

For the four founders of “Jobeagle”, Patric Steiner, Delia Herger, Patrick Huster and Marco Pfefferli, one thing is clear:

“Companies need to pick up young talent where they spend all day – on their smartphones.”

…and do so in an online job dating format. Today’s job ads can be read on a cell phone, but then creating a classic application with a letter of motivation and CV on a cell phone becomes quite a pain. Reaching for the laptop seems inevitable. Or not? The Jobeagle app enables a playful and time-efficient application process, completely via smartphone. This makes the job search unique and exciting for both sides – after all, discovering new professional opportunities and talents should be fun.

Swipe for the job – it’s not only innovative, it’s also fairer. “The way people apply for jobs in Switzerland today is extremely prone to discrimination when evaluating candidates,” explains Delia. At Jobeagle, candidates swipe right if they are interested in a job. At this point, the company is only shown the anonymized profile of the candidate – exactly what is relevant for the job. Only when the company also expresses interest in the profile does further information about the person, such as the name, gender, nationality and a photo, become visible.

In addition to the vision of fairer application procedures, Jobeagle would like to be an indispensable part of the working world in a few years’ time. To this end, all kinds of resources are currently being invested intensively in developing the app and building up an attractive, future user base of companies and talent. “Already now, a lot of talents have registered on the Jobeagle waiting list and various companies want to make themselves available as product testers – this shows us that our solution is really in demand and motivates us to go full spead”, says Marco.

The Jobeagle team spirit is very positive. The founders want to benefit from the experience of the experts and the network, and last but not least: “We always set our goals high, so of course we hope to win,” says Patric with a wink.
